❌ Plastic Cutting Board

Plastic cutting boards releases tiny plastic particles known as microplastics, into your food on every single cut!

These microplastics often contain toxic chemicals like BPA, which are linked to serious health issues, including cancer, gut inflammation, hormonal imbalances, infertility, and skin allergies.

❌ Bamboo Cutting Board

Bamboo boards are never single piece!

Bamboo boards are glued together using glues/adhesives, and some cheaper bamboo boards may use non-food safe formaldehyde based glue, which is harmful to the human body.

Bamboo is technically a grass, not wood, and boards made from bamboo are prone to cracking or splitting eventually over time.

They are less durable compared to Tamarind Hardwood and often may lose their structural integrity.

Cheap Bamboo boards made with non food safe adhesives or Formaldehyde-based glues are potentially problematic. IARC, U.S NTP & American Cancer Society classifies formaldehyde as "carcinogenic to humans".

❌ Steel Cutting Board

Reduces Knife Sharpness: Steel boards can dull your knife sharpness and edges quickly over time, making them unsuitable for regular chopping.

Super Noisy: Steel boards are loud during chopping making them less user-friendly.

Slippery Surface: some steel boards may not grip well, making cutting unsafe and increasing the chances of accidents.

Dual Stage, Non-Chemical Dry Seasoning 🌱

Stage 1: 21 days of non-stop 24x7 controlled drying process in a closed drying chamber with regulated temperature and humidity
to remove moisture and carbohydrates from sap wood.

Stage 2: Multiple-layers of hand planing, followed by another 72 hours of drying.
This process naturally seals the dense wood's surface that is highly resistant to deep knife cuts

This seasoning process makes our cutting board more stronger, durable and protects from moisture damage.

Natural Resistance to Bacteria/Fungi/Mold!🛡️

Tamarind wood is very dense and less porous, so bacteria can’t easily enter or grow. Our dry seasoning process provides additional protection and enhances the natural resistance against bacteria. Tamarind Wood has best-in-class antibacterial properties among other hardwoods 🌳

High Density Janka Hardness ~11,263 Newton or 2,532 pound-force 💯

Tamarind wood has the highest Janka hardness ranking among hardwoods, making it one of the toughest hardwoods.

It's massive density make it stronger and more durable than teak, acacia, sheesham, mango or any other hardwood cutting boards.

Resistant to Breakage, Splitting and Deep Knife Cuts 💯

Tamarind wood has unique criss-cross interlock wavy grains that makes it highly resistant to splitting and less prone to dents, deep cuts or grooves from knives.

More over, our cutting board keeps your expensive knife sharp for longer ❤️

1-Inch Thick - Unshakeable Grip. Enhanced Stability. Total Control

Our cutting boards are designed with a 1-inch thickness, which helps prevent slipping and skidding and keeps the board firmly in place on the tabletop, even during heavy chopping.

You can also use for rolling chapatis because of its sturdy and stable surface
🫓Enjoy a professional, non-moving base for all light to heavy chopping tasks 🔪

Say No to Mineral Oils! 🫰

Most wooden boards use cheap mineral oil coatings! We do not use any kind of mineral oil coating because mineral oil is derived from petroleum crude oil and may contain harmful polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs).

⭐ Chef Bae Tip

We recommend using separate cutting boards for veg and Non-Veg to avoid cross-contamination and maintain the highest level of kitchen hygiene.

Why this matters:

Prevents Germ Transfer: Raw meat can carry bacteria like salmonella or E. coli. Using a separate board ensures these don’t transfer to your veggies or ready-to-eat foods.

Safer Food Prep: Keeping boards separate reduces the risk of food-borne illness for you and your family.

Cleaner Flavours: Strong meat juices or odours won’t mix with fresh vegetables, fruits, or herbs keeping your meals tasting clean and pure.

Better Organisation: Having a designated board for each ingredient category makes meal prep faster, easier, and more professional.

Longer Board Life: Meat prep tends to create deeper cuts. Using separate boards ensures both boards last longer and stay in better condition.

⚙️ Chef Bae Technical Properties

Exceptional Hardness [Janka Scale]: Tamarind wood has a Janka hardness rating of approximately ~11,263 Newton (2,530 pound-force), making it significantly harder than many popular hardwoods. This exceptional hardness makes it extremely resistant to scratches, dents, and wear.

Density: Tamarind wood is very dense[900–1,200 kg/m³ (56–75 lb/ft³)], which contributes to its durability and ability to withstand heavy use without warping or cracking.

Grain Pattern: The grain is criss-cross interlocked and wavy, giving it a distinctive, striking appearance and natural grip. This is one of the reasons tamarind wood is valued for aesthetic and safe applications like cutting boards and butchers block since ages!

Tensile Strength: Tamarind wood has a high modulus of rupture [MOR], often exceeding 110 MPa, meaning it can endure significant mechanical stress without breaking.

Moisture Resistance: Tamarind wood has a low shrinkage rate and is naturally resistant to moisture absorption, making it less prone to warping or splitting.

Durability: Tamarind is classified as a highly durable wood. Its dense fibers make it resistant to insect attacks, fungal decay, and general wear over time.

Color and Appearance: Tamarind wood features light sapwood with creamy tones and dark, rich heartwood with deep reddish-brown or black streaks. This high-contrast appearance makes it visually stunning and unique compared to other hardwoods.

Flexural Modulus [Elasticity]: Tamarind wood has a high modulus of elasticity [MOE] of around 12–15 GPa, which ensures good flexibility and resistance to cracking under heavy loads.

Thermal Resistance: Tamarind wood is naturally thermally stable, which helps it resist expansion or contraction in extreme temperatures.

By following these general care practices, tamarind wood cutting board can remain super functional and beautiful for many years 💛

🌳 About Tamarind Tree

The tamarind tree, native to India, is deeply rooted in Indian culture, religions, ayurveda and cuisine, known for its versatile fruit used in cooking and traditional medicine since 2000 B.C 🌿

Tamarind hardwood has been used as cutting board since ages. It is often called as Butcher's Cutting Board because of its lasting durability, high hardness factor, strong density, health safety, solid nature, unique criss-cross fiber grains, gentle on knife blades, anti bacterial and natural organic properties, ease of use, hygiene, aesthetic stylish look and excellent performance in the kitchen. 🪵

Tamarind wood holds spiritual significance in various cultures, where it is associated with divine purity and protection. It is often used in sacred fires (homas) and is believed to ward off negative energies. The tree is considered sacred in some traditions, with rituals performed before using its wood.🙏✨

Tamarind, also known as Tamarindus indica, is an evergreen tree native to India. It is a slow growing tree, with a lifespan of up to 400 years.

We sustainably source tamarind trees from the Western Ghats of Kerala that have naturally reached the end of their lifecycle or when their fruiting capacity declines, typically old tamarind trees. This ensures our resources are harvested responsibly, without harming the environment. 🌏
