Our Story

At Chef Bae, our story begins in the kitchen of our grandmother, Elsy Ouseph, everyone calls her Elsamma.

She was the heart of our family, her love woven into every meal she prepared. Growing up, we spent countless hours by her side, learning the secrets of cooking and the values of tradition and sustainability.

Elsamma had a special cutting board made from tamarind wood. It was gifted by her grandfather! She would often tell us, “This board is not just a tool; it’s a piece of our heritage.” She explained how tamarind wood, with its natural colour, beautiful unique grain, durability and natural strength, had been used in our family for generations. Its natural antibacterial properties and criss cross fibres made it perfect for food preparation, keeping our meals safe and healthy.

Every slice and chop on that board was a lesson in patience and love. Elsamma’s cutting board wasn’t just about its practical benefits; it symbolized the care and craftsmanship that went into every meal. It is super durable, resilient, and beautiful—just like her ❤️

Inspired by Elsamma’s wisdom, we created Chef Bae to share the timeless benefits of tamarind wood cutting boards with the world. Each board is handcrafted with the same love and attention to detail that she taught to us. We use sustainably sourced tamarind wood, ensuring our products are not only high quality but also kind to the environment.

Cutting Boards made out of plastic, steel and bamboo wood using chemical glue joining and dyes are not food safe!
